Where to Stay in Currumbin: Beach, Creek or Sanctuary

Currumbin is not a conventional hotel district, and that is part of its character. Most stays are self-contained apartments gathered around three quite different settings: Pacific Parade and the ocean beach, Duringan Street beside the creek and Alley, and Teemangum Street near the wildlife sanctuary. The choice is compact, but the holidays are not: one begins with surf, another with the creek, and another beneath garden trees.

Three small pockets, three different routines

Choose the routine, then the building. Pacific Parade favours an ocean swim and a beachfront walk. Duringan Street turns attention towards the creek and Alley. Around Teemangum Street, the wildlife sanctuary and leafy apartment grounds enter the picture.

Pacific Parade: small-scale character or a larger resort

Houston Currumbin is the intimate choice: three renovated, two-bedroom apartments in a 1950s building across from the beach. With so few rooms, it feels a world away from a resort tower—and sells out like a small property too. Ground-floor outdoor space and an upper-level balcony create different stays, so the individual apartment matters.

The Rocks Resort answers the same beachfront wish on a larger scale. Its self-contained one- and two-bedroom apartments face the ocean and include private balconies, backed by shared resort facilities. The apartments are individually decorated. Duringan Street: creek and Alley outlooks

Little Cove looks towards the creek and Alley, with two- and three-bedroom apartments, two bathrooms, full kitchens and laundries. The view comes with a physical trade-off: this is a three-level walk-up, and the route towards the water is either a steep staircase or a longer footpath. Here, the journey beyond the front door deserves as much attention as the balcony.

The larger layouts give families or friends space to cook, talk and spread out; they do not turn the property into a serviced hotel. Apartment level, bedding and garage access can shape the stay, as can aircraft noise for anyone hoping to sleep through part of the day.

Teemangum Street: beach side or sanctuary side

Sandcastles on Currumbin Beach offers two- and three-bedroom apartments, but the name of the booked unit matters. Air conditioning and outlook vary, which means one apartment description cannot safely stand in for the whole complex.

Sanctuary Beach Resort keeps the ocean on the doorstep side of the decision. Two-bedroom apartments occupy the ground and first floors; three-bedroom apartments are on the second. There is no lift, and every apartment is individually owned, so floor and unit character matter alongside beach access.

Across on the wildlife-sanctuary side, Sanctuary Lake Apartments changes the mood. Its air-conditioned two- and three-bedroom apartments have kitchens and private balconies around gardens and a pool. It is the greener, sanctuary-side choice—not a second version of Sanctuary Beach simply because the names sound alike.

When Currumbin is too narrow a search

Six well-defined apartment choices cover most of Currumbin's managed holiday stock. Private holiday homes come and go, while the places above have current operator sites and offer a real difference in position, scale or room layout. A longer list would not necessarily give you more useful choice.

Use the same dates, guest ages and bedding needs when the final contenders go side by side. Apartment level, stairs or lift, air conditioning, parking, total price, cancellation and after-hours arrival will usually settle the practical questions.

Then return to the reason for staying in Currumbin at all. An early ocean walk, a slow creek morning or breakfast among the sanctuary-side gardens is a better tie-breaker than another row of booking filters.
