Burleigh, Palm Beach or Currumbin: Where Should You Stay?
By the ParadiseGrove editorial team · Last checked 9 September 2026

Choose central Burleigh if you want to combine beach walks, James Street and meals around the town centre. Choose Palm Beach when a particular apartment and its nearest creek or stretch of beach suit your holiday. Choose coastal Currumbin if mornings around the Alley and Pacific Parade are the attraction. The exact address matters more than a suburb-wide promise of being “close to everything”.
Start with the morning you want to repeat
Picture leaving the apartment on an ordinary holiday morning. If your plan is coffee, boutique browsing and a headland walk, central Burleigh is our starting recommendation. If it is a playground session after breakfast, look near southern Palm Beach. If it is watching or learning to surf at the Alley followed by an oceanfront lunch, investigate Currumbin.
These are editorial matches to different holiday styles, not rankings based on price or first-hand hotel stays. None of the three is automatically the cheapest or quietest. Compare the same dates, room size and cancellation conditions before deciding what represents value for your group.
Burleigh: make the town centre part of the stay
Burleigh works particularly well when James Street, the beachfront and Burleigh Head National Park are all places you expect to revisit. Staying near your preferred walking route can make short outings practical: one person can browse shops while another spends longer by the beach, then meet for lunch.
Our Burleigh accommodation guide is the detailed property shortlist. Use it to compare apartment facilities and positions rather than relying on the suburb name alone. Ask whether the room photographs show the actual unit category you are booking, particularly where apartments are individually furnished.
Palm Beach: choose the end before the apartment
Palm Beach’s north and south ends support different everyday plans. North puts the focus on Tallebudgera Creek; south is the choice to investigate for Palm Beach Parklands and Currumbin Creek. Our Palm Beach visitor guide explains those outings. An address convenient for one does not make the other a quick trip with small children and beach bags.
As one concrete property to compare, Princess Palm advertises self-contained apartments in Palm Beach. Use its actual address and apartment information when assessing fit; nearby-destination language on accommodation websites can be broader than the suburb boundary. Verify bedroom configuration, parking and the path to the beach for your selected unit before booking.
Currumbin: book the coast if the coast is the reason
Currumbin’s beachfront is the candidate for a holiday built around the Alley, Pacific Parade and water-view meals. The Rocks Resort at 828 Pacific Parade lists one- and two-bedroom self-contained apartments, with private balconies. It is one direct-booking option to investigate, not a claim that it is the best property in the area.
Compare the specific apartment category and its occupancy conditions, rather than assuming all units are identical. Our Currumbin day guide shows the kind of outing you could build around a coastal base. An address in Currumbin Waters or Currumbin Valley is a different proposition; check it on a map before choosing it for a beach-first holiday.
With children, compare the ordinary details
A separate bedroom, somewhere to prepare breakfast and a practical route back for a rest can matter more than an impressive pool photograph. Ask the property about lift or stair access, cot arrangements, balcony security and the exact bedding supplied. Those details belong to the chosen apartment, not to the suburb as a whole.
For outings, compare the Burleigh family guide with Palm Beach’s playground morning and Currumbin’s coastal route. Choose the base that makes your likely days easier. A wildlife visit does not require moving your whole stay to Currumbin if most of your other plans are in Burleigh.
Without a car, check a real door-to-door journey
Use the property’s street address and your likely destinations in the Translink journey planner. Test the airport arrival, a dinner return and one planned day out—not just whether a bus stop exists nearby. Include walking and waiting when comparing options, and check the return service at the time you expect to travel.
If you do hire a car, include accommodation parking in the cost comparison. For your arrival, the airport transport guide explains the types of transfer available; use your actual accommodation address rather than applying Burleigh-specific directions to every southern suburb.
Before you pay
Compare the total stay cost, cancellation deadline, deposit, cleaning charges where applicable and arrival arrangements. Ask what happens if your flight arrives after reception closes. A lower nightly rate can be a poor fit if the room lacks the facilities you intended to use every day.
